How do I get more new patients for my dental practice?
New patients search by procedure, symptom and insurance, then decide on reviews. Here is how to be found for the appointments you actually want.
Rank for the appointments you want
Cleanings fill themselves once a practice ranks locally. Implants, Invisalign, cosmetic work and emergency visits do not; each needs its own page and, often, its own campaign. Decide which procedures you want more of before doing anything else.
1. A page per procedure and per office
Google cannot rank a page that does not exist. "Implants" needs a page that explains the process, timeline, cost range, financing and who performs it, in your city. Each office needs its own location page.
2. The profile, done properly
Primary category (Dentist, Cosmetic dentist, Pediatric dentist, Orthodontist), services listed with descriptions, insurance attributes, booking link, provider photos. Corporate chains rarely do this per office; it is where an independent practice wins.
3. Reviews across platforms
Ask every patient at checkout, by text. Keep Google, Healthgrades and Zocdoc all moving. Route concerns to you privately first.
4. Compliant Ads for high-value procedures
Campaigns per procedure written inside Google's healthcare policies, landing pages that match, negative keywords so you are not paying for "free dental clinic". Track calls and bookings, not clicks.
5. A website that books and stays compliant
Fast, booking integrated, forms that keep protected health information out of analytics and ad platforms.
What it costs
Advanced Local SEO from $500/month, Google Ads management from $100/month plus 3–5% of spend, a compliant website for $1,500. Book a call and we will show you which procedures in your city are the most winnable first.
Insurance and symptom searches
Two search types practices routinely ignore. Insurance: "dentist that takes Cigna near me" is a high-intent search that a page listing every plan you accept, by name, will rank for. Symptoms: "tooth pain when biting", "swollen gums around one tooth", "chipped front tooth" are searches from people who need an appointment this week. A short page for each common symptom, written by a clinician in plain language and ending with how to book, ranks for the symptom and converts the searcher.
Provider pages
Patients choose people. A page per dentist or hygienist with a real photo, credentials, schools, years in practice, what they focus on, and a few sentences in their own voice is one of the highest-converting pages on a practice website. Add Person schema so Google connects the provider to the practice. Link the provider page from every procedure they perform.
Reviews in a regulated setting
You can ask every patient for a review; you cannot offer incentives, and you must not reference treatment details in responses. The best process is a text at checkout with a direct link, and a private feedback route for anyone who indicates they were unhappy so problems reach you before they reach Google. Respond to every public review with a short, warm, non-clinical reply.
Compliant advertising
Google's healthcare policies restrict remarketing based on health interest and some claims. Campaigns per procedure, written without prohibited language, landing on pages that describe the procedure, timelines, financing and provider, get approved and convert. Track calls and online bookings, not clicks. Protect patient information: forms should never send symptom fields to analytics or ad platforms, and your analytics setup should be reviewed for PHI leakage.
Multi-office practices
Each office is a separate local business in Google's eyes. One profile per office, one location page per office, reviews collected per office, and a rank grid per office. Practices with five or more offices are priced under Franchise SEO, and the roll-up report shows which office is winning which procedures.
